Michael Arthur
Managing Director and Principal Engineer (Co-Founder)

An expert in the water sector, Michael is a Chartered Engineer with more than 15 years’ experience NZ and the UK. His extensive technical knowledge, and background with public and private sector clients, ensures high quality delivery of complex engineering projects at detailed and strategic scales. He co-owns and leads Metis services in NZ offering after spending 5yrs working with Simon and Luke building the highly successful Metis business in the UK.
Michael’s technical, leadership and teaching skills aren’t just put to use during business hours – he holds advanced scuba diving qualifications and volunteers as a martial arts instructor too.
Simon Jones
Director (Co-Founder)

Simon is a chartered Civil Engineering with over 20 years’ experience. He established Metis UK with Luke back in 2009 and is extremely proud of the company’s success and hard-earned reputation. He is excited by the prospects of working with Michael to build off the UK business’ experience to deliver our services in NZ.
After working with the New Zealand engineering consultancy Opus for 5 years whilst balancing work with a place on the British Rowing Team, Simon travelled New Zealand extensively and fell in love with the outdoor lifestyle and friendly culture.
Simon has two young daughters and loves spending his time outside of work taking them on adventures. Maybe New Zealand will be their next destination!
Luke Meechan
Director (Co-Founder)

A Chartered Civil Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in infrastructure asset management in NZ and UK, Luke takes an active role in the development of our industry. Nurturing future talent for both Metis and professional institutions, he is ambitious for the company, its people and the clients we work with. Luke is excited about Metis opening up in NZ and good memories of his time at Opus.
Luke’s ambition doesn’t stop there – as a keen cyclist Luke has ridden stages of the Tour de France to fundraise for charity and also volunteers to support his local community.
